London is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishnaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lenaapéewak and Attawandaron. I acknowledge that the Indigenous Peoples of this land were here long before myself and the generations before me. They have cared for the land, the water, the animals and the people and I am grateful for the lessons in love, strength, connection and humility that have been exemplified through their cultures and communities.
I share this acknowledgement not as a token gesture, but with the intention to pause, reflect, and remind us all that we are on stolen lands.
We are all responsible for learning about the injustices that Indigenous Peoples have faced in the past and continue to face today. It is our responsibility as fellow human beings to listen, learn, and do better each day.
